Time table for Iraq...

Let's change the subject from all this racism stuff, it's depressing. I heard on the news today that US and Iraqi negotiators have agreed on a time table for US troop withdrawal that is complete in 2011. Now, this is at the negotiator level and certainly a number of hurdles have to be jumped before it's formalized, but I wonder how such an agreement would affect either candidate. Does it give Obama an out (since he appears to have slightly changed his view on the 16 month withdrawal plan)? Does it cut the legs out from under McCain's hundred year plan? I personally don't think McCain was as hard up over staying for 100 years as Obama was initially to getting the troops out in 16 months.

If you look at the bottom line, Iraq wants us out and they want us out of their cities and towns by June 2009:

Moreover, it would be up to them to determine if they want US forces to continue to remain beyond an established timeline.
The whole thing is looking a lot closer to what Obama has proposed (and Malki favored) than anything coming out of the Bush/McCain tunnel vision view of: (take your pick), "stay the course", "don't cut and run", "conditions on the ground", "victory" or "2013". (Almost forgot:"mission accomplished.")
