...to let ALL of President Bushs tax cuts expire? As a fiscal conservative the amount of debt combined with the skewed tax burden in this country are really starting to make me worry for the condition of the US when my sons generation has to start paying for things. The "poor" don't pay taxes, the semi poor don't either and the middle class as a tax source is shrinking. Let's be honest here. Only the rich pay a significant amount of taxes and even their money is being shielded by the lower cap gains tax rate. Half the population has no steak in our system because they don't or barely help pay for it.

Medicaid, Medicare, social security, defense, and now Obamacare. All of them could easily collapse in on one another, all of them need to be fixed, and our tax revenue is falling.

Generally speaking a low tax environment is good, but haven't we gone far past the point of diminishing returns? How are we going to pay for all these things without taxing the hell out of our kids in a presumably low growth economy. Where have all the true fi-cons gone?

It would seem that the government coffers have been depleted by so much spending to help boost the economy. Now it seems like the time to let the tax cuts expire. Isn't everyone talking about how obscene our deficit is? Isn't it time for some austerity?

Bravo, but only coupled with cuts in government spending. I'm afraid your party has been hijacked and doesn't resemble the GOP of even twenty years ago, so I can't see this happening especially if we have a repeat of 2010.

You don't seem to understand what a fiscal conservative is.

The government has plenty of revenue and it has continued to rise over time, with the exception of a slight dip after the 2008 recession.

All of those programs that you are worried about collapsing are projected to have future problems due to spending increases.

The way to increase tax revenue is to lower the tax rates, promote business growth through lower taxes and less regulation thereby increasing the number of tax payers and resulting in increased revenue for the government to mis-use.

Maybe tax increases will be needed. Before we give them any additional revenue I want our fiscally irresponsible government to show me that they're actually capable of cutting. I'm not talking about the bogus "cuts" of your department gets a 3% increase this year instead of 4% and then telling us they cut by 25%. I mean shows us real cuts. If after they do that we find they still need some additional revenue I'm open to some new taxes. Significant sustained spending cuts first though.
