Guess where?

Yesterday, a fuel tanker exploded blocking a major artery and mail service was interrupted by "saboteurs" who penetrated the security perimeter in broad daylight.

Yesterday, one person was shot. Today, two people were shot and this evening a pickup truck exploded in the middle of the evening rush.

Guess where all this happened? :S

I have several telescopes, but none are semi-APO, APO, or in anyway valuable.

At a gas station adjacent to your local US Post Office... I believe its people protesting the latest stamp increase. My .02 cents.

Atlanta.... this place is teaming hive of scum and villainy. If you add up all the nightly crime and traffic fatalities, you'd think this city was part of the Sunni triangle. :S

Last week, hostile natives pried open a bunch of the mail package lockers and opened our incoming packages. Fortunately, they didn't want any of our incoming crap. wink

And...this is in one of the best apartment complexes in one of the best neighborhoods here. A place where the grounds are immaculate and the where the gate always works and always slams down on any car trying to tail you in. wink

Now the complex has put out a flier letting us know about a burglary and advising people to be on alert for suspicious people, to be careful walking alone, walk with keys in hand, etc., etc. shocked

It's almost enough to make me ask - What's the best large caliber handgun for astronomy? But, there's no way I'm bringing heat every time I go observing. Lawyers are more expensive than muggers anyway. And...I'm not driving two hours each way to work or to go observing. Grrrrr....it makes me mad. :C Sometimes I wish Canada would just invade us and restore order! 8)

Thanks for listening to my rant. The ATL redeemed itself somewhat yesterday with mild weather--except, of course, for the clouds when I wanted to observe. :S

As for, astronomy handguns, I figure I'll stay away from those since I have two quick exits from my observing site. Besides, since a decent attorney costs about $129/hr, I figure roving hoodlums can have my Observer 70 whenever they want. Of course, if I ever graduate to a Meade RCX-400 or something, that equation might change. wink

I hope y'all enjoy cloud free skies and I hope all the cougars in your areas have already eaten! 8)
