$16,000,000,000,000 in debt and over $100,000,000,000 in unfunded liability so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Enjoy!

That's insane! Seriously, if you really want to be green, put up SAILS! They've worked just fine for a long, long, time! They have stealthy masts now and on a tri-maran, they'd be plenty fast.

As much as I like spending money to blow up foreigners, some of the recent Navy projects are a little over the top. A billion dollar tin-can is a little much!

Plus, if we don't strike the right balance of hi-lo mix in our defense spending, other countries can overwhelm us with sheer numbers.

Here is a more neutral version of the story with the Navy Secretary's reasoning for his actions:

This is a Bush administration report about Rumsfeld's efforts to find alternatives to fossil fuels to give you some background that is is not a LIBERAL agenda idea.

The Navy recognizes that much of our oil comes from nations not so friendly or downright hostile and a military that can't be energy independent is worthless. This is not just a green issue.

If the Navy can set up the demand maybe the supply will follow and the price can come down. The Navy has been experimenting for years and paying high prices. In the scheme of the overall military spending this is not a big deal. A good idea? Who knows? But not worth getting your panties in a bunch.

You guys fuss about Rod's LaLaTime's articles but Fox gets pretty tiresome, too, with it's Cyclops viewpoint.
