What is it?

I took this picture in my backyard. Two of these were hanging out on the roof of my birdhouse. I don't know much about birds, but it looked neat. What is it?

it's a European Starling, Sturnus Vulgaris, a non native invasive species. they are a huge problem up here in the Pacific Northwest, being more aggressive than native species such as the Robin. they are believed to have been introduced to North America by the release of 100 birds in NY city sometime in the early 1890's.
