Migrating bats in front of the moon.

I suppose this is the best forum for moon observations...

I was looking at the almost full moon Sunday night, and I saw a black speck go in front of it. I didn't think much of it, but then it happened again. I looked in front of the scope, but didn't see anything...

After observing more of these black specks, I noticed they had flapping wings. Then I realized they were bats! They were flying very high up, on the air currents, and traveling south. Couldn't see them with the naked eye, but saw a lot through the scope.

Anyone else ever notice this?

Van,

I've never had bats cross my screen, but while imaging the sun occassionally I'll see specks go through the field. I am guessing high flying birds or the like. Of course, there is the occasional jet that does that too...messes up the image royally!! grin
