When placing an ad today I noticed the following:
1) I MUST choose in shipping options between: Pickup, Buyer Pays Shipping or Seller Pays Shipping. It would be nice to either have a fourth option as blank or Negotiable. If someone contacts me from another country (and that is just one scenario) I don’t want to commit to paying shipping or probably them either so that is why “Negoiable” or blank would be good to be able to choose
2) I had to refresh my attempt to post a new ad four times today. Why? Because when I chose all my pictures to upload, I could clearly see the file sizes of each picture and the pictures uploading, but then a couple of pictures would only upload to a certain point and stop (see attached picture). My suspicion was I exceeding the maximum size for all the pictures per ad, but that is not listed at the point of picture uploads. Is it a total of 15MB?? If so, in the day of extremely cheap costs for “TB’s” of storage and relatively few Astromart ads a “25MB” limit per ad is not excessive. The uploads would complete on some of the pictures and the remaining pictures only so far and then the spinning wheel would just spin for minutes until I would refresh the page and lose everything and start over. I kept reducing the picture count until - BINGO! - all pictures uploaded and I could proceed to the final page before posting the ad as active. Rather than go through all that guess just list the maximum file size per ad. Better yet increase the file size to more than the likely 15MB limit. Selling an item IS telling a story and what potential buyer does not want to see more rather than less pictures? Written information in an ad is very helpful and many excellent pictures helps a buyer in moving forward to buying!
3) I did not realize I had to choose payment options in placing an ad and I left them unchecked; when I wanted to go the next page I didn’t know why I wasn’t being allowed to? I did see that all the payment options were now in red, but what would be better is at the bottom of the page when you need to click on next and when there is an error how about an error message to the left of the “Next” page link that says, “Please correct the errors above highlighted in red.” This would point the person placing the ad to what actually needs to be addressed instead of guessing what is wrong.
4) This issue is very important!!! By default the “CATEGORY” of a new ad is “Antiques ASTRO ONLY” and my ad today was for a pair of binoculars for sale and on the three attempts to create an ad that I could not complete because of the unknown file size limit when I would restart I would choose binoculars in the CATEGORY drop down, but because I had start over several times the last time I just left CATEGORY at the default by mistake because I was getting frustrated, later today when I was checking the binoculars section in the classified ads I couldn’t find my ad and then when I went into my account and I could see the default choice I mention above of “Antiques ASTRO ONLY” was where my ad was placed. A simple fix would for the default to be “Choose Ad Category below” and if that is not done this message would turn red and then the error message I mention at the bottom of page I mention as an improvement would redirect the poster to make the necessary changes.
The End.
