Asteroid Ceres

Asteroid Ceres is supposed to pass by Pollux this week. They say it is the size of Alaska and almost visible to the naked eye. A binoclar asteroid is rare I guess, anybody ever see one?

Off the top of my head I can recall seeing 1 Ceres and 4 Vesta (which is visible to the naked eye) through binocs. A number of others are bright enough at opposition to be seen thusly - http://www.jas.org.jo/ast.html
