Hey everyone appreciate the feed back on the supernova question. I have another though. Im wanting to upgrade from my small (junk) shocked meade telescope to a 10" dob like a Zhumell but i want to invest wisely. Do you have any suggestions to a nice scope or info. and reviews on the Zhumell 10" dob. I dont have a ton of money to spend (400) maybe. May be one of you would have one sitting around grin
Thanks you are helpful!

Nick:
Regarding the Zhumell 10 inch DOB. I know of no specific reviews however it is my understanding that these are manufactured by Guan Sheng Optical (GSO) who have a long history of building quite good Dobs. The original Orion XT-series, the one that got the metal tube DOB "revolution started" was manufactured by GSO. Hardin, OPT Starhunters, X-Class, Celestron and other DOBs have or are currently manufactured by GSO.

I have an OPT Starhunter 10 that I like very much, it has good optics and has provided me with many rewarding nights of stargaszing.

Dobs are pretty large so shipping can be a big part of the cost of a used one. Keep your eyes open on Astromart for a 10 incher near you.

The other option is an 8 inch F6 DOB, a very capable scope as well with some advantages over the 10, particularly as a first scope. It is lighter so it is somewhat easier to setup and transport. More importantly however is the slower F6 focal ratio which means coma is not a problem, simple eyepieces like plossls are sharper at the edge and it will be easier to collimate.
