Orion Plossls - quality?

I have a Celestron 102GT, and the 25mm and 10mm lenses that came with it. I bought a Orion Shorty Plus 2x barlow, which was a great investment. Now, I'm looking for a little more power for planetary and nebula viewing. I'm thinking in the 5mm - 7mm range, which would about max out the magnification levels for my scope.

I recently saw some good deals on used Orion plossls in the size range that I'm looking for. I'm a little concerned about the short focal length since I wear glasses, but for the price and the number of times I actually get to use my scope, it might be worth it.

Can anyone tell me if the short length Orion (or Celestron) plossls are any good? If not, what would you recommend without breaking the bank (under $50).

Thanks.

I had an old ultima (celestron) 7.5 for a while and enjoyed using it. the relief is very short though. I"m not sure I would want to look throung a 5mm plossl though I doubt I"ll need to much. Are you going to use it with the barlow?

There's a 2.8 barlow (which I know nothing about) for sale in the classifieds. I'd note that it may be more pleasant to sell your shorty and get a 3x barlow than to use a lot of 5mm plossls. but then gain maybe not.

The Epic ED eyepieces from Orion (also available under other brand names) give good eye relief at short focal lengths for only a little more than the Orion Plossls. Again, they aren't Radians but decent for the price. The Expanse eyepieces also are good for the money, but do give some pretty bright ghost images on bright objects in my experience.

Standard Plossls in <10mm focal length range are way out of my "comfort zone" for eye relief. Orthoscopics are only slightly better with regards to eye relief, but are reasonably priced, and the University Optics Orthos are highly regarded.
