help with leveling

Hello, I am almost new to this forum, though I've bought a couple of items from the classifieds here in the past year. I currently have an old Meade 8" LX10 SC which is great but I have difficulty finding DSOs with it. I am very interested in the Orion XT10 intelliscope with the manual-driven GOTO computer on it.

The big problem I have with it is that my optimal area of observation is on a 30-40degree inclined hill. Are there devices or easily built plans that anyone knows about which I could use to level Dobsonian bases and still be able to move the scope up and down the hill to gain optimal views? I was hoping there might be some commercial solution to this problem but maybe there isn't? It seems to me that this could be a fairly common problem and over time people would have hit upon the ideal solution. The obvious thing I thought about was something like one of those bean-bag chairs and setting the scope on it, but I figured this would make the entire set-up somewhat unstable. If I had access to the material, a better idea might be a pliable moldable yet firm piece of material which would keep its shape once molded, then would return to a flat form - kind of like a giant piece of silly putty (or silly silicone) - anyone know of any other solutions?
