Adding my Telrad Finder

I just recieved a new Telrad finder for my Orion XT8 Dob. I was looking at mounting positions and trying to decide where is the best spot. I don't really want to remove my 90 degree 9x50 if I I can avoid that. The Telrad will not fit between the focuser and the 9x50. I was thinking of going to the other side of the 9x50 or moving down the OTA body and mounting it between the focuser and 9x50 only moved toward the axis of the scope. Any experiences doing this or suggestions?

I put mine on the far side of the finder scope from the focuser. It works just fine for me.

I added a Telrad to my XT6 this summer so it should fit on an 8 shouldn't it? I had to notch the telrad base to clear the stock finder and focuser but it works great. I have since removed the stock finder as I really have no use for it now.

I ended up moving the dovetail bracket over to make room for the Telrad. So it ended up being placed between the focuser and the 9x50 finder. The less I had to lean over the scope to sight through the telrad the better. It's possible to just move the bracket over, re-use one of the original holes and drill only one extra hole in the tube. Never had a second thought about the placement, works great.

Thanks for all the input. I did as Jay suggested. Just moved the 9x50 over and drilled a hole. Took me longer to get the drill and bit than it did to do the job. Looks like a great set up now. Just waiting on darkness to go try it out now!

On my XT8, I have my EZ-Finder II between the 9x50 RA and the focuser, and behind (toward the primary mirror side of tube) the focuser's square plate. Your Telrad is probably bigger, and may not fit so well there though....
