I traded asome tools for this scope/mount/box, its a sears Discover model no 3 4454, F12 80mm made in japan, the tripod is wood, very nice construction on the tube and mount. Its in really good shape just needed cleaning. the man I got it from was the second ownerand it had been siting unsed in storage the last 10 years. the focuser is really long and seems to use very small Ep's an inch maybe? it came with 6 ep'sranging from 22mm to 3.5 I think. Any way to replace the whole thing or adapt it to 1.25? or would it be best just to use as is?

What I know, the public does not approve, and what is approved, I know to be error.

Eyepieces are Japanese standard size 0.965 inch. You can
get a "hybrid" diagonal that is 0.965" on the input
and 1.25" on the output.

Also simple adapter

The eyepieces are probably not great. More modern Plossls
with some good coatings would be better.

I bought a couple of meade scopes and they had .965 eyepeices. They were ok. I spent the money and got adaptors so we could use 1.25 peices. By doing this the views are much beter. give it a try.
