Hi all,
Wondering which design is likely to cooldown the quickest and which is least likely to develop issues operating in subfreezing temperatures (down to about 0 deg. F.). The specific scopes being considered are the new TSA120 and the NP-127.
Thanks.

Both scopes are air spaced designs so there probably isn't much difference in the time required to stabilize. The Petzval is better for imaging "out of the box" because you won't need a field flattener.

From my experience temperatures below 5F are hard on mechanical and electronic equipment, and the glass parts in the optics are usually the least of my worries.

I am interested in the comparison between an airspaced doublet and the Petzval. I recently acquired a NP-101 and I am curious about others experiences with cool down.

I have a tsa102 and a np127is. Cooldown in my winter nights are about even. The NP is an amazing scope.
