Hi!
I'am curious witch scope is the best, optical and mechanical of the William Optics Megrez type II 80mm semi-apo and the Orion ED 80mm. This type II Megrez is new on the market and they say that it is much better than the first one.

I haven't yet tried the Megerez, but I have the ED 80 and can tell you that thier is absolutely zero false color on anything I have seen yet. The moon is crisp and white. Cassini division is visible at about 120x and up, and is crystal clear even at 200x (highest power I have). If you can get your hands on one I think it would beat any other scope in its class. Hi Anders,

I think the Orion 80ED Doublet APO Optics will be better that the Megrez/Megrez II Doublet semi-APO.

But don't forget the Megrez 80 II will be sold too in Triplet APO version and it should be an outstanding package, but more expensive.

Regards,

Florent
