Celestron(Japan)80mm f5 short tube?

Can anyone tell me if Celestron sold an 80mm f5 short tube that was made in Japan in the early 90's. I am buying one and the owner has told me it is from Japan and was made in the early 90's. I know Vixen made one for Celestron, but the coloring on it was grey I believe. This one is black. Thanks for your help.

The SS-80 "spotting scope" black tube with aluminum threaded lens cell. I have two, one optically superb, the other terrible (probably out of collimation??). I have some issues with the back focus and stuff like that. I have not compared either of mine to a "modern" ST80. Unless you can check it out first, you shouldn't pay a premium for it. Hope this helps,
