Can anybody help me identify this lens? The previous owner bought it for a project several years ago, but never got around to putting it together. He thought it was a Jaegers. It is a 5" lens and around F6. The lens is coated. The lens cell is very well made, collimtable, and threaded to 132mm (5 3/16"). I can't tell if it is 2 or 3 elements. I can't see any spacers between them but it does look like there may be a gasket that they fit into. Any help would be appreciated. Bill

I'd like to thank everyone for their help & several people have asked me to provide more info & photos. The lens is indeed F5 &meaures 120mm clear across the back of the cell. There is a retainer ring around around the crown with small allen screws which thread through the wall of the cell The rear element is pressed into a rubber gasket. I hope this helps & thanks again, Bill

I am not sure why so many folks are trying to make this into a Jaegars lens. The quality of their lenses varied. Some were excellent, and some were not good.

I'd say put the lens in a tube of some sort and see how it does. It may prove a nice rich field instrument.

Clear skies, Alan
