I have now seen two of these and both are excellent. The second one had a small amount of astigmatism, this was easily fixed by loosening the lens cell retaining ring slightly and is now perfect. Also, squeal in the focuser can be fixed by finding a setscrew on the single speed side of the focuser, loosening it slightly, pulling the focus knob out slightly and resecuring. The color correction is quite decent, and the mechanics are really cool. Also Royce, the boss, will help you even if you are not the original owner. These are a best buy.

Doug: I am interested in your judgement of the color correction. When you say "quite decent", exactly what do you mean...

Is this Pronto/Ranger level, ie, false color visable on Jupiter, very apparent on Venus... or is it Orion ED-80 color correction, no apparent color on Venus at high mags in focus...

I am looking for a small scope to replace my Pronto for digiscoping. The size of the Pronto is good but false color is a problem at times and has ruined some otherwise nice shots of birds. I have an ED-80 and optically it is a good solution but it is just too big physically. The TV-76 is the obvious answer but I am just too cheap to spend the cash.

The Celestron Onyx has grabbed my attention but I have also wondered about these small 66mm F/6 ED scopes...

Any advice would be appreciated.
