120mm Synta Refractor

I cannot get this refractor to focus. When I put a 2" or 1.25" diagonal on the refractor, and I completely retract the focuser tube forward so it is as close to the OTA tube as possible, it is still out of focus. It almost seems like the OTA tube is too long and needs to be shorted..... any ideas,

On the focuser tube, there probably is a retaining ring for the 2" visual back. By backing off the retaining ring, you may be able to screw your visual back onto the focuser tube a fair amount to allow you to reach focus. Hopefully this is your problem.
