reducers - wider fields

Needing a wider field of view than either a 56mm plossl or a 41mm Panoptic can provide. Are there any QUALITY reducers that could give me a wider field of view? Are there other options? I assume longer focal length eyepieces would require more than a 2" focusing unit.

41mm Panoptic provides a 0.6 degree FOV with 2.4mm exit pupil at 105X.

Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.

You might tell us a bit more about the scope. It seems to be a 10 inch F/17 so I am guessing a Mak or Classical Cassegrain...

You could always find a friend that owns a large schmidt cass and borrow his reducer to try it.

PS - that friends wife says you don't NEED another telescope toy. =;^)

Clear, sunny skies.

My original question pertained to the 10" f/17 refractor currently under construction. Seems everyone got distracted about the 9" Celestron.

So, I will again ask about useing a reducer to get wider fields of view with THIS refracting telescope. It appears the best choice is the 55 plossl, 41 pan and the 31 Nagler all resulting in a 0.6 degree field of view, however, the plossl has an 3.2mm exit pupil versus Nagler with 1.8mm exit pupil.

Would a reducer still provide wider AND sharp views? Should I chase down a longer FL eyepiece and use a larger focuser (2.7" or 4")?
