I will be purchasing a Panoptic very soon. I like the idea of the 35mm. I have heard great things about the 27mm also. I like good eye relief and my viewing is mainly deep sky clusters and nebs. Which would be the better one for my use??
Panoptic 27 or 35

Thanks for the advice. I have a Celestron Nexstar 11. I went and bought the 35mm. I looked at the Nagler 31, but I liked the Panoptics eye relief, and also the price ($680 and another 100 for a counter weight....I dont think so). While I was at Scope City I also purchased a 18mm Radian and a Luminix 2"star diagonal, and a 2" UHC Filter. I'm pretty broke now. My wife still wants a Nagler 12 to 14mm. Maybe Christmas.

Mike, interesting you should mention eye relief on these... every now and then I think I should get the 27mm (which Rick Singmaster recommeded to me). But eye relief matters.
I really like the comfort (and quality) of the Pentax line.
How does the eye relief on the 27mm compare to other eyepieces that you like for eye relief? You wouldn't happen to know its eye relief spec would you? Sounds as if it must be < 20mm of the Pentaxes.
