So with this likely government check totalling at least $600 for every tax payer this summer is anyone here thinking of purchasing any astro gear or eyepieces with this free money. I have an ethos myself so I'm good for now.

Well Darren, it used to be your money in the first place, until they took it from you.
Still, it's always good to get it back!
Great idea, investing in some new astro-gear!
After all, the idea is to stimulate the economy.
I can't think of a better sector of the economy to support,
than that of the astonomy community, preferably a US-based company. 8)

You really need to think it through. The government doesn't have the money - they're tapped out. At the very best, what you're getting is a loan of your money (assuming you pay taxes) that you or your offspring will have to pay back, with interest, to the government whose fronting you the dough. The absolute best situation is that you don't pay taxes and that your progeny are planning to follow in your footsteps in which case the Ethos will be a free ride. Sorry to be a wet blanket, enjoy the Ethos, the one I ordered has been in the backorder nether-world for sometime.
