Eyepiece Suggestion

I'm looking for a 2" eyepiece for a home-brew finder scope. Ideally it should be about 32mm FL, 70 degree AFOV (for a 46 mm field-stop diameter), but 35 mm FL, 65 degree AFOV might be more practical (even if the exit pupil is getting large).

Weight is the most important issue. I can't have the eyepiece weighing as much as the OTA.

I'll sacrifice optical quality to save weight and cost.

I think I may be asking too much. Still, I welcome your suggestions.

A couple of thoughts:

1. A 32mm eyepiece with a 39mm field stop has a nominal 70 degree AFOV, note that the Nagler 31mm has a 82 degree AFOV.

2. My guess is that the GSO SuperView 30mm might do the job for you. I have the 42mm and it is quite light weight compared, 325grams according to my scale, the 30mm could be lighter. The advertised AFOV of the 42mm is optimistic when compared to the measured true field of view.

Paul Rini has some 2" 30ish eyepieces being closed out. He builds them himself from surplus lenses. $35 ain't bad. See his ad in the Amart classified.
