Hello

I was here a few weeks ago discussing a Celestron Ultima 80 to my C-90, I decided to keep the C-90 till I try some eyepcs, before I try another spotting scope.

I have a new Celestron C-90 that I use for target shooting sports, detecting bullet holes on paper targets at 200-300 &500yds, the C-90 has a 1200mm FL and came with a 32mm eyepc, which is about 38x I need more and less power, I need 30x and 60x, so what I had in mind was a 40mm lens and a 2 x Barlow, question I have is I tried a few eyepcs I borrowed a 20x plossi type and I was not thrilled with the clarity, IS this common, are there better eyepcs that will let me see the targets better especially at 300 &500 yds, Or am I trying to see something with a C-90 that it won't handle, Anyone have any opinions on the Celestron Ultima 80 will these be a better choice, need some opinions.

thanks
Chet

barring defects in the scope it will do what you are asking. Try and borrow a few other eyepieces to see what you get. Are there any problems with the view through the supplied eyepiece?

Are you using the 45 degree configuration or 90 degree? I'm not sure how that system works but you may be better off with the 90 even if things are reversed, left to right. My old C-90 will easily show cracks in the joints of a cell phone tower at 350 yards with an 18mm ep. (55 power). With a 26mm Siebert things are very clear but I am seeing a hint of the shadow of the secondary. The 20mm Plossl should work pretty well. I don't like Plossls myself but that is a personal thing and mine are cheap ones. Your system should work.
