Ok, I'm new and try to read as many of these threads as possible but I'm getting confused jumping from one to another. So are there any available books to read up on optic types (ie Nagler, Plossl, Radian etc)? Thanks Jim Milling

"The Backyard Astronomer's Guide" by Dickinson and Dyer gives a good deal of information about different eyepiece types and their own (respected) recommendations.

Also look into "StareWare, 3rd Edition" by Phillip Harrington.
