What did I see transit the moon?

Tonight around 9:05 CST I was observing the moon at about 150X when I saw a dark (jet black)object/shadow? move across the illuminated side of the moon until it completely disappeared into the terminator. It was either round or slightly oblong and approximately the same apparent diameter as Mars it 150X. It crossed the moon's illuminated side in approximately 3 seconds. I am in Austin, Tx.

Thanks,

David

Balloon sounds like a pretty good guess.
I've seen birds cross while viewing... Do you think it might have been a large bird?? Eagles get quite large and fly pretty high.

I've seen this myself and was amazed, until I saw it mentioned here on Astromart a few times...

It pretty much has to be something in the atmosphere (like a weather balloon) since the orbital velocity of something in a low orbit (about 250 miles or so) would have to be moving at around 1 mile per second to cover the moon's diameter (about 30') in 3 seconds. I think that's a "little" faster than a stable orbit speed.
