tasco refractor focuser upgrade?

I have a Tasco Galaxsee 45-060675 60mm f/15 refractor scope. The rack and pinion focuser tube is a somewhat wobbly in the focuser housing and I would like to replace the focuser assembly with a smooth, solid-feeling one. It is mounted to the optical tube by three equidistant screws. The current focuser tube accepts a hybrid .965/1.25 star mirror diagonal for use with 1.25 eyepieces.

Does anyone know of a good replacement focuser for this telescope that will just bolt right in to the existing optical tube mounting holes? I don't mind replacing the hybrid diagonal with a 1.25/1.25 one.

Would the Meade DS series 1.25 focuser be appropriate? I saw a picture of one but it didn't look like it had the right mounting holes but the picture wasn't the greatest.

Thanks,

Steve

Apogee Inc. offers a 1.25-inch focuser for "60mm tubes." I'm not certain, but I believe it's a straightforward replacement for standard/typical 60mm refractors.

If you forward an email with the diameter of your Tasco's tube, they should be able to confirm whether or not the focuser will fit.

Best wishes and luck.

The Meade DS Series doesn't seem to be a viable option. I received an email this morning from Apogee stating the following:

"The focuser we carry will not work because the O.D. of the base is 2.498""

My tube O.D. is 2.475" so clearly this focuser's base is too big to fit inside my tube.

For now I'll live with the focuser I've got, it is actually pretty smooth and doesn't wobble during focusing.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and comments.
