Starmax/Apex 102mm for Backwoods Camping

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had experience with this scope and what they thought, I will be leaving for an annual camping trip to the Rocky Mountains in a few weeks and I am looking for a portable/hikable setup. I took a ST 80mm refractor last year and it was nice but I'm looking for something I can crank the power a little more with.

Also if anyone owns this scope could you please tell me the diameter of the tube.

Thanks,

Thomas

Just something to consider: With a small Mak like these, you will be able to crank up the power a bit more than with the ST-80 but you will lose those views at 12-40X that are the bulk of terrestial viewing. And even with something like the ST-80, often the limitation on the magnfication is the atmosphere rather than the scope's optics.

Thats why most spotting scopes max out at 60X, even the fancy APO models...
