has anybody tried the new orion apo on an lxd mount. I was thinking about using the lxd mount with the cheaper orion apo. anyone think you might be able to do some short ccd work or moon shots? looking for an affordable way to do some astrophotography with a refractor. any thought dan

HI Dan -
I think that the small Orion APO would be a much better match for the LXD-55 mount than the actual LXD scopes would, and would be a very nice setup for visual use.
But I don't think you would be very happy with the mount for photographic purposes. Attempting to image with an LXD-55 mount is an excercise in frustration.
