Anyone else out there from MN (or nearby) try to
get out and observe over the last couple of un-godly
cold nights??
I put my dob out to cool down last night, and tried
to observe, but gave up after about 10 minutes.....
Heard it reached -44 (F) without windchill in some
parts....

I have not even bothered to set up for almost a week. I was out last night for 10 minutes or so observing with my eyes only. The sky was very clear although I could not see the Milky Way from my suburban skies. The light from the moon must be bouncing off our 8 inches of new snow cover.

I was out during the lessor cold spell over a week or so ago. At least 45 minutes were required by my Mewlon to even begin to settle down. I have been wondering if observing in Minnesota winters should be left to refractors. I can go out with an FS78 and be observing within 10 or 15 minutes.
