In WWII, RAF bomber pilots that flew the night missions were fed bilberry jam to increase their night vision. I have read in alternative medical literature that bilberries are good for improving night vision. This must be an English thing, as I have never eaten or even seen a bilberry.
I do know that eating wild blackberries that grow in the Ozark National Forest make me feel better, but I don't know if they help vision that much. Chigger bites are the main negative side effect with them.
The main thing to remember with berries is that the brighter and darker the color, the more antioxidants are packed into them. No berry is darker than a blackberry, and the juice leaves very vivid stains, more than any other berry I can think of.
