Hydrogen Beta Filter Question

I have a 10" dob and i am considering getting a hydrogen beta filter 2" for my 30mm eyepiece. First does anybody know if i can detect the horsehead nebula in a 10" scope with this filter? If so would i be better off getting a 1.25" filter for my higher power eyepieces. I don't know if the filter would work better with low power or higher power. I would appreciate your experiences. Thanks

You may be able to pick up the horsehead with a 10" and hydrogen beta filter if you have very dark skies. I tried last winter with my 10" and a lumicon 1.25" hydrogen beta filter but I never could see it. Another member of my club claimed he could see it, but just barely. The skies that night were around magnitude 5. My advice - don't bother with a 2" since it has such limited uses and the horsehead covers a small area of sky anyway.
