I am a stone cold newbie with the ability to purchase an Orion 8 Inch Deep Space Explorer Dobsonian F8 Reflector at a great price.

I have tried to find reviews of this scope at 5-6 sites but nothing.

Can anyone provide me with information on this scope and its performance?

The Deep Space Explorer is the Sonotube scope from the '90's that was replaced by the XT-8. These scopes are reputed to have been made by Discovery.

I think they came in different versions but in general are cruder than the XT- series. DOBs of that era often had single stalk secondary supports that required bending during collimation, pretty tough in my experience.. Plop goes the secondary was my experience...

Also, focusers were often not so great, mirror cells did not cool...

But, if it is offered for $150 or so along with some eyepieces, it could be a nice starter scope at a good price that would definitely be fun to use and to learn with.

Best to all, clear calm skies...
