What are the advantages/disadvantages of a Dall-Kirkham design scope vs a SCT?

Thanks

Hi -- The folks who make D-K, e.g. Takahashi, produce excellent quality optics (compared to the major name brands). There is no corrector so cooldown can be a bit faster, though correspondingly the mirror can get dusty but no corrector to clean. No need for a dew shield on a D-K. Focal length typically a bit longer. Hope this helps -- Michael

Here is a brief comparison between an SCT225 and the Mewlon 250

I have never looked through a Mewlon 250, but can say the SCT225 is about everything a 9" SCT could hope to be ! grin

The picture is from a side by side of a Celestron 9.25" and the SCT225.
