Binocs with Nearsightedness?

I posted this in the Binoc Forum and didn't get responses so I hope no one is offended that I am posting this question here.

I am contemplating a big binocular purchase, and I have been hearing great reviews of the Burgess 20X80 LW binocs but before I make an order, I was just curious if you guys think I would have a problem with my nearsightedness, the website says they have an eye relief of 13mm, and I have a nearsightedness of -3.75 diopters, a pretty weak astigmatism at .75, and i do wear glasses most the time, do you think I'm gonna run into a problem with my eyesite and the smaller eye relief? do you think the 15X70's are a better choice if these don't work or any other option you think would be better suited for me, Thanks in advance,

Thomas,

I purchased the Pentax PCF WP 16 x 60 Binos about 2 months ago and I am extremely happy with them. They have 20mm of eye relief for people who wear eyeglasses. They also have 4.0 diopters of adjustment in the right eyepiece if you wish to observe without your eyeglasses. For a binocular of this size they are extremely light and can be hand held for shorter periods with no trouble. They also have an extremely flat sharp field to the edge, optically they are extremely good for this price level, maybe they are a little more expensive than you wish to pay, but you do get fully multi coated lenses, BAK 4 prisms, they are also Nitrogen filled and waterproof. I rate them excellent value for money and especially suited to eyeglass wearers. The only drawback with them is that they have a narrower field of view than most binos this size at 2.8 degrees, I dont find this a problem at all. I paid $AUS350 and I think they are a little over $US200. If you want a bit more magnification consider the 20 x 60 model which also incorporates a special field flatening lens.

I own a pair of the Burgess 20x80's and have to wear eye glasses when using them....with the eyecups folded back, they work just fine. Because of severe astigmatism in my right eye, I had to have Bill Burgess send me a pair with additional minus diopter adjustment on that side...he apparently tests each pair so he had a few in stock. The only complaint I have is that when wearing glasses, the inter-ocular adjustment becomes critical and more difficult to get "just right" so that each eye hits the center or "sweet spot" in each eyepiece. My 56 year old eyes can be pretty finicky....but you gotta work with what you have.
