Astrophotography with CG-4 mount?

I've done some fairly acceptable widefield SLR film astrophotography piggybacked on a CG-4 equatorial mount. Now before I move into prime-
focus astrophotography with an old Vixen 4" f/6 reflector and invest on a few more gadgets, what kind of astrophotos can I expect with this mount? Will it be futile? Acceptable? Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joel

Joel,

Have you considered DSLR imaging? By stacking numerous 30-60 second shots, you can get some decent unguided prime focus images without critical polar alignment and with fairly high periodic error. I highly recommend it for mounts that are not really made for long exposure prime focus ap/imaging.

Best wishes,

Randy
