advice on alt-azimuth mount

Hi,

I am looking for advice for a good alt-azimuth mount for my TV NP101 and TMB 80mm f/6. I am considering the following: Tele-Optik Giro3 DX, WO Easy Touch and Unistar from Universal Astronomics. The Discmounts are nice but they are out of my range.

Any suggetions would be much appreciated.

PS I have heard that it can be difficult to balance a short tube refractor (such as the TMB 80mm f/6) on the Tele-Optik mount. Is this true?

Wingko.....Go with the UniStar heavy deluxe...great price for an excellent Alt/Az mount....I use it with my 4" APO f/9...you will not go wrong! Good Luck....Ed

I have been looking for an Alt/Az mount to be used as a grab & go for my TEC6 Maksutov, I looked into all models mentioned here as well as Tak/Lapides, at the end I settled with a Vixen GP mount with slow motions, no motors. The reason for going with Vixen GP was the tracking problems at high powers with most Alt/Az mounts, being GEM once the Vixen is polar aligned tracking planets at 200x is not very difficult.
