About 4 mos ago I purchased a pair of Pentax 20X60 binocs. I'm very pleased with them although I've never seen many write ups on them. Anyone have any experience with them and know how they stack up to other offerings out there?

Over on the Cloudy Nights Binoculars Forum (compared to which this place is a graveyard for uncoated binoculars at midnight) it is praised for its optical quality, but sometimes dissed for its narrow apparent field of view. Sort of a poor man's Takahashi Astronomer. Not having had the pleasure, I can't comment, but am envious.

I have used an older pair of 16x60 Pentax (the generation prior to Water Resistant (WR)). The 'narrow view, 2.7 degrees' was the main complaint posted about those glasses. However they are very light weight, hand holdable, inexpensive, and give outstanding images. They are perfectly aligned, as daytime viewing will attest. I have used them to complete both the Binocular Deep Sky and Binocular Messier Certificates from the Astronomical League. 99% of the viewing was from my suburban Dallas backyard. You have a winner and should not feel any inferiority!
