I have a Nagler 4.8mm that I bought new in mid-1998. It has an attached rubber eye cup and a knurled ring around the middle for a better grip. This ep has an 82 degree AFOV and has "JAPAN" stamped on the upper, black part of the ocular. This ep has exc. eye relief for an ocular of such short fl. This Nagler is in very good condition, with some scuffed rubber on eyecup &, and a few set screw marks on the barrel indent. Please note that strange bluish light near bottom of barrel is artifact of photo flash & barrel looks same as a new chrome plated EP barrel minus some set screw marks, as noted earlier. The optics are the same as Televue's reputation is built upon & shows dark purple FMC's on both the eye lens and the field lens. I once used this ep in a friend's Pronto & the view at 100x was very bright, contrasty, & resolved subtle details w/ an impressive, flat FOV. This & all my eyepieces have been very well cared for. I will sell this Nagler 4.8mm, Gen.2 for $110 shipped & insured in CONUS. More distant buyers must pay for shppng. & ins. Postal money orders or cashiers check preferred. Personal checks accepted but ep will not be shipped til check clears.
eyepiece has superior optics, coatings & glass-the physical multi-lens element is unblemished & looks as good and performs as well as when first purchased. This e.p. is indispensable for short fl Newtonians and APO Refactors; it can provide higher powers, esp. when used w/ a top end Barlow lens, that are necessary in many observing situations. It may not look mint, but it appears fairly new & is a handsome eyepiece. In addition the optical performance is undiminished & that's what really counts!Comes w/original end caps & box. Please SEE comments about newer, cheaper Naglers & older, more expensive Naglers,4,8mm & 7mm FL's at bottom of Nagler, 7mm, Gen.1 ad. IMPORTANT! Thanks, Michael.
