I am upgrading the visual scope at my New Mexico observatory to a 16-inch, so I am offering for sale this like-new condition Meade 14" LX-200 ACF. The optics in the 14" OTA are first-rate. When I acquired it, I had it completely disassembled, cleaned, and the tube professionally-painted a high-gloss, black enamel (...I have never been a fan of Meade blue...). The fork mount was personally assembled and tested by Dr. Clay at Arkansas Sky Observatories. Additionally, I added custom-machined, stainless steel, sliding counterweights both top and bottom for precise balancing and very accurate slewing. The focuser has a silky smooth touch with minimal mirror-shift. It is a seriously nice scope.

The setup comes with Autostar II, 110-volt A/C power supply, Meade 6x30 finderscope for initial alignment and a 1" solid aluminum pier adapter plate (drilled for a Bisque permanent pier, but easily adapted to a different setup...). If you wish to use it in a portable backyard setting, I can provide a Losmandy HD tripod with custom-machined adapter plate (works great for visual applications in altazimuth mode) for an additional charge.

Sorry, the Van Slyke 2-inch eyepiece turret pictured is not included, but can be purchased separately. I will list it once the scope is sold.

Here's the best part...if you are a buyer in Texas (within 100 miles of I-10 or I-20), New Mexico or Arizona, I will personally drive and deliver to you for a flat $100.00 shipping fee (no chance of damage!). For other buyers, standard UPS Ground charges will apply.

A new (non-custom) version of this scope costs $6,600.00 new. I have priced this one for quick sale at $3,600.00 + shipping. You save $3,000.00 or 45%.

PayPal preferred...I'll absorb the fee.

Thanks for looking!
