First off I have a Super C8 ota from the late 1980s that has been deforked. It's now ready to be mounted on a Losmandy D-style male dovetail plate. I've used this a few times with my G11 and GM100. It has the lower plate mounts PROPERLY installed and is of no threat to the optics, tube's integrity, nor the light path. Here's what you get with this neat package...
C8 ota with Starbright coatings
C8 original front dust cover
Vixen Polaris 8x50 illuminated right angle guider with front dust cover
Meade 2" 90-deg mirror diagonal from Japan with 1.25" adapter and dust cap
Front mounting lock bolt for hardshell dew shields (like the ones Meade had on the 2080)
Losmandy machined aluminum base mounts for using Losmandy-style D-plate
This is a wonderful setup that has served me in all I expect a C8 to do. There are a few things to notate; nothing bad..
1) The illuminator unit needs a new battery
2) In between the doublet achromat element on the finder there is possible light mold. It can be removed, but the lenses will need to be separated. I think they work fine as is; not a big deal.
3) One of the (4) Philips head screws is missing on the underside of the Meade diagonal. It DOES NOT affect alignment and the housing IS NOT loose. If you never replace it, you'll be fine. If you do, it'll cost you about 20 cents.
Cosmetics on this entire setup are excellent with NO signs of heavy use or abuse. Optics in the finder's eyepiece and reticle grid are very excellent clean. Optics in the C8 are very excellent with no scratches, mold, ect. Secondary is spotless. Collimation is spot on, but will need to be checked after it travels to you. Focuser is ultra smooth and precise.
Optics on the Meade diagonal are very excellent and of Japanese quality. No Chinese anything on this setup.
**dark spots you see on the mirrors are simply reflections of my ceiling tiles**
I do have a storage trunk for this ota should you want it, which is in great condition. It will increase shipping price.
Happy to ship to anyone anywhere.
