I have two research grade Monochrome CCD cameras from Princeton Instruments model MegaPlus II EC11000. These camera use the same full frame monochrome CCD sensor (with microlens) found in SBIG STL 11000M or Atik 11000 cameras.
Their design is somewhat unique however: while the sensor is housed in peltier cooled aluminum body which also has a small fan allowing for very efficient and quick cooling, the rest of the electronics are housed in the controller module connected to the camera via 3M controller cable. This allows mounting of the camera to the various optical devices without introducing any significant weight constrains on the optical axis and also isolates the camera�s primary electronics from the sensor cooling path resulting in true 12-bits per pixel at virtually any operating temperature.

Controller unit has Serial, Firewire (i1394) and CameraLink connection to communicate with PC. These cameras were used with CameraLink connection to take long series of short exposure shots up to 10 seconds each (I can provide 10 seconds dark or light frame upon request). One camera has a Nikon F-mount nose peice, the other has a 56mm diameter nosepiece connection (no threads). Both types of connections are removable and you can order your own type of adapter/connection from Precise Parts to fit your telescope or lens.
