For sale: Vixen Super Polaris German equatorial mount with computer assistance. Basic features: This is a premium medium duty mount with a weight capacity of 36 pounds, suitable for loads up to an 8" SCT. It is completely outfitted for astrophotography. Basic features includes the mount head, illuminated polar alignment scope, two counterweights, a dovetail plate and block for your favorite OTA, hardwood tripod, accessory tray, and dual axis drive motors (third motor included). Both MD6 single axis and DMD2 dual axis controllers included; both controllers have retrofitted autoguiding ports using an SBIG relay box.
Additional features: The mount has two 8000 CPI encoders, geared at a 4:1 ratio. I will include Brian Kidwell's Deep Space Navigator computer-telescope interface, a registered copy of David Chandler's Deep Space star atlas/telescope interface DOS program, and serial and encoder cables. The icing on this cake is the hard to find Super Polaris half pier which places the mount at a comfortable height. Also included is a Meade field tripod adapter for the half pier for use in a permanent installation or on the Meade field tripod.
Aperture fever struck and the boss says something has to go. Over $1500 invested, I will nevertheless offer this fine mount for the sacrificial price of $990.00. Will split shipping or deliver to buyer at Okie Tex next week (if you select this option, we must deal by Thursday Oct. 11).
