I know this is a very odd request for Astromart, but I've hit a wall elsewhere, so....

I am looking for parts to make an 8"x10" camera, or for an old refurbishable 8x10 camera. I have come into possession of a 75-year-old large format lens that will cover up to an 11"x14" negative, and it's fast: a 420mm f/3.8. I want to try to use it for 4"x5" astrophotography, but the lens barrel is 5.5" across, and won't fit on my 4x5 cameras (old Speed and Crown Graphics by Graflex).

I have a back I can use, and I think I have a handle on some bellows. I can make the rest, accept for at least one matched pair of racks and pinions (two racks and two pinions) . The design I'm thinking of would not need long ones (though the longer the better) 3 inches each would do; but I need two sets that match, since they will go on either side of a wide back and will move in tandem.

Of course, a sturdy old 8x10 camera would be even better. It would need to be able to hold a heavy lens on a board at least 6 inches on a side. Appearance, and even functionality, would not be important, as long as it had the basic parts and could be repaired.

Right now, I have no cash to spend on this project, but I have some things to trade:

-- a Nikon FG-20 camera body for astrophotography (I don't think the electrical functions work, but it is a manual camera on "B" and 1/90th; it may just need batteries, I've never checked).

-- two finders: a 6x30 Celestron on a dovetail mount, and an Antares 8x50 correct image on a spring loaded mount to fit Synta scopes (the second one was painted to match a scope I made, and has some scratches in the paint).

-- a complete Celestron CG-3 Equatorial Mount with a wooden tripod.

-- a Swift Mark II Zoomscope 15-60x60mm spotting scope, model number 841. This is an older scope, but works very well, and even includes a built-in T-mount on the focuser, screw-on lens covers for both ends, and a sliding metal dew shield.

-- I also have a variety of eyepieces I'd being willing to let go of; let me know what you may be looking for.

I'd be willing to trade any or all of these things, depending on what someone might have to offer. I'd also part with any of these items for cash, if I find (or don't find) what I'm after, and have something left.
