I am sure most of you have seen I have listed this scope several times. Many want to know why I am selling it so soon after purchase. I contacted Mark Harry about the mirror, and Rob Teeter about the structure a year ago. I thought the scope would be a lifetime scope, so I spared no expense. During the year of waiting many things have changed. Mainly my wife quit her job, and started a bead making business in the garage! This is my scope storage haven, and it was taken over. I have also decided to get out of the buy, and try then sell area. I thought long and hard, and decided on ONE scope. That scope is a TEC140 APO. I am going to get by with one scope, and enjoy it without worrying about buying more equipment. Well I am going to try anyway. As most of you are aware the TEC is expensive, and I need a mount. I also have decided I am not a big dob guy. The scope takes up a lot of room. It can be disassembled for storage, but I am lazy also. Those are the reasons for the sale.
The scope is as nice to look at as look through. Hopefully the photos do it justice. There are photos on Teeter’s Website also. The heart of the scope is a Mark Harry 12’ F5.4 primary. .97 Strehl 1/11 Wave P to V, and 1/33 wave RMS. Certification is included from Mark. The mirror has a Cat’s Eye Collimation triangle. The mirror cell is a Dar 9pt cell. It is really a nice cell. Two high volume fans cool the mirror very quickly. Included is a 7ah battery, and float charger. 8 Moonlite truss poles connect the upper cage. A light shroud is included. The UTA includes an Antares 1/20 wave 2.14’ secondary mounted to an Astrosystems Spider with built in dew heater. The focuser is a Feathertouch with a 2” to 1.25” Feathertouch reducer. The finder bracket is a quick release Losmandy 6pt with a 50mm Celestron Finder. For local pickup wheelbarrow handles are included. I can ship the wheels, and tires, but the handles are not cost effective to ship.
I am fanatical about my stuff, and usually a little harsh on the descriptions, but I do not want any regrets. Here is all I have found; two small partial fingerprints on the primary, and a little dust. The fingerprints measure about 1 square inch. The is a small partial print on the secondary. The UTA is flocked with formica, standard practice, the formica has come loose in one area and, needs to be re-glued. One wheel barrow handle is a little lower than the other. It really does not make a difference, but it is worth noting.
I will ship at the buyer’s expense. I will make a mirror transport box as outlined in the Astromart article. I will drive 100 miles free to meet with you after a deposit is received. I will drive up to 250 miles total at .50 cent per mile over 100. The only trade considered is G11, GM8 or GPDX plus or minus cash. More pics tomorrow.
I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. My home phone is usually busy due to me being on the internet. Please call me on my cell at (910)352-2802.
