The AAVSO Star Atlas, General Catalog of Variable Stars and SAO Star Atlas are offered as a package.
AAVSO atlas is the first printing of the first edition, containing 12” x 15” charts on very heavy paper, not the flimsy spiral bound charts of the second edition. The 178 charts of the whole sky show stars to 9.5 magnitude, variable stars, comparison stars with magnitudes, as well as deep sky objects. Charts are perfect, but box is a little discolored.
GCVS is 3rd edition, Moscow, 1969. Volumes I, II and III. One of the last great printed star catalogs. Extensive data and notes on 20,000 variable stars, in English and Russian. Very good condition.
SAO Atlas, 1969. This is an out of print collector’s item, with a forward written by Joseph Ashbrook, the former editor of S&T. There are 152 charts on heavy paper of the whole sky to 9th magnitude plus non-stellar objects. Charts are perfectly white, but index tabs are slightly discolored and box is smudged in a few places. Includes transparent grid overlay with RA and Dec for charts. 12” x 15”.
