I have a Very nice – near mint – Meade 80mm F/11 Japanese (I believe TOWA Made) refractor from the 80’s (Mod. 312). These were to compete with the Vixen/Celestron imports and are every bit as nice. All metal – the only plastic is the dew shield on the finder scope! Very nice 1 ¼ R&P machined focuser – even the knobs. Smooth. Optically it is typical Japanese quality – which is to say very nice. Very little false color, stars are pin point, and the scope can handle way more then the 50X per inch (I regularly take the scope to 200X+ without any breakdown). Cosmetically it is very nice with only a very small crease (really just out of round) on the dew shield that is hardly noticeable – you’d really have to know its there. Single clam shell ring.

Vixen Polaris Mount in perfect condition (has only one scratch on the body and a few set screw marks on the dovetail). No play in either axis, mount is VERY smooth. Has the Vixen wood “Refractor” legs (adjustable type) and are the “import” versions (Metal Painted Vixen off white vrs. the Celestron Dark Grey). Also has the somewhat rare Vixen Dovetail blocks and universal dovetail plate. No Polar scope.

I have a Meade “Starfinder” (Same as 494 I Believe) GOTO drive system (Duel drives and hand paddle – 1500+ objects) – You will need to fabricate brackets for the motors/mount, but there are several web sites showing “how to” as well as some “Kits” available. Never got around to doing myself – I’ll throw this in for FREE…

400.00 + shipping (which I'd guess is about 50.00). I can take PayPal (non-Credit Card)
