I took a 10" f/4.5 Discovery DHQ (plateglass mirror) and converted it into a portable nested-truss. It was my vacation scope, but now I'm working on converting my 14" Discovery PDHQ into a nested-truss. The 10" was a warmup just to see if I could do it.
Mirror, upper part of cell, secondary w/holder & spider, and focuser were removed from the DHQ and used in the new scope. Baltic birch construction. Stainless steel hardware. Weighs 60 pounds when 'boxed up' into a 17" cube. The picture shows a Stellarvue red dot finder, but I'll replace it with a Rigel. The Stellarvue is a little too short.
I can send a link to more pictures if you are interested.
$800.00 Prefer local pickup (or will meet halfway within 300 miles) or buyer to pay actual shipping (3 boxes - 1 for mirror and cell, 1 for truss poles, and 1 for the nested enclosure).
