I would like to sell a 7" F 9.3 AP OTA with an oil-spaced triplet objective that Roland custom built for me in 1986. This was built just
prior to his introduction of the Starfire line. While it doesn't
have the same degree of color correction as the Starfire
(and subsequent) lines, the color correction is still excellent and provides
beautiful images (wavefront error and other aberrations are
minimal, as is typical for an AP product). The objective is in
excellent condition and provided wonderful views of Mars
during last fall's close approach ( a friend of mine and I
went to Yosemite and were lucky enough to have seeing in
the 8-9 range, a once-in-a-lifetime experience - but I
digress). I am interested in selling it in order to: 1) Purchase
a smaller, more portable telescope, and 2) Help finance my
daughter's horse habit :-) .
The OTA has an 8x50 AP finder scope, and I would also
include an AP 2" Photo-visual Barlow, a 2" AP Flat Field
telecompressor (I believe they got it from Olympus), and a
Lumicon 2" enhanced-silver diagonal. The focuser is a
custom 2.7" AP rack and pinion model with a 2" adaptor.
My asking price for the OTA and accessories is $8000 (or best offer) plus shipping (choice of shipping at buyer's discretion)
I also have the original AP 706 mount on a 60" steel pier
(also from AP) for sale. This is a very solid German equatorial mount, but lacks the GoTo capabilities typically desired today.
My asking price for the AP 706 mount and pier is $500 (or best offer) plus shipping (choice of shipping at buyer's discretion).
Please feel free to call me if you have questions.
