Panasonic Lumix FZ1 digital camera. Leica Vario-Elmarit f/2.8 12x optical zoom (35mm film camera equivalent of 35 to 420zoom). This lens is f/2.8 throughout its entire zoom range. The camera features Panasonics MEGA optical image stabilizer system and makes hand held shots at 12x zoom possible in daylight. Electronic viewfinder plus 1.8 LCD on camera back. Exposure times are 1/2000 second to 8 seconds. This FZ1 has been upgraded to be the equivalent of the Panasonic DMC-FZ2 with manual controls and other new features. This camera is in like new condition, purchased less than a month ago. The color is a very elegant silver. This is a 2.11mp camera that thinks it is a 4mp camera, and you’ll think so too when you see what it can do in terms of image quality.
What's different about this upgraded FZ1? Panasonic only released the DMC-FZ2 in Asia and Europe. The FZ2 is the same camera as the FZ1 but with a firmware upgrade adding features for full manual controls plus aperture and shutter priority, a finer white balance control in 300K increments for +/- 5 steps. In 1600x1200 high resolution mode, the picture quality is also improved by the use of less compression. The regular FZ1 does not have these features, but this FZ1 with the FZ2 equivalent firmware does. The firmware has only been officially sold to the Japan market at a list price of 6000 yen. The firmware upgrade unlocks the full capability and creative potential of the FZ1 by upgrading it to FZ2 specs.
The zoom and focusing of the Leica lens is internal so the extension you see of the lens below is as far as it sticks out, which isn’t very far compared to other cameras with much smaller zoom ranges.
Camera includes all the original items supplied in the box, plus the original box and packaging. $275 plus shipping. These same cameras without the upgrade are going for a lot more used on that other auction service. This is one of the hottest digital cameras on the market today.
